Has an emissions update robbed this entertaining commuter of any grunt?
We often associate commuter motorcycles with being drab and mundane, but the TVS Radeon bucks that trend by being anything but. Its highlight is its grunty and sonorous 109.7cc motor, but has a BS6 emissions update caused some of those ponies to escape? We put the updated bike through our performance tests to find out:
Acceleration
The simple answer is no. The motor continues to feel punchy and sound great, and the fuel-injected BS6 bike is actually slightly faster than the carburetted BS4 version. Throttle response feels crisper as well, and in-gear acceleration times for the Radeon BS6 are a considerable improvement over its predecessor.
Braking
Not only does it go quicker, the Radeon BS6 also stops quicker. Like before, we tested the drum-brake equipped variant, but it managed to stop nearly 6 and a half metres quicker from 80kph. Like earlier, CBS is standard.
Fuel Efficiency
The addition of BS6 is a complete win-win, because not only is the Radeon BS6 quicker than before, it’s also more frugal! And by quite a margin. Over 7kmpl more for each litre of fuel in the city, and 4.6kmpl more efficient out on the highway.
