Of all the variants on offer, which one suits your needs?
TVS has introduced the BS6 version of its Star City Plus in the country, to comply with upcoming emissions norms which will be applicable from April 1st 2020. The updated bike commands a premium of Rs 7,486 and Rs 8,500 for its standard and dual tone variants, respectively.
While this BS6 version is available in 2 variants, the bikemaker is still selling the BS4 variants alongside these new ones. This makes for a total of five variants of the TVS Star City Plus on sale at the moment. Let’s check out what each of them has to offer.
Electric Start MAG SBT (BS4): Rs 54,502
The base variant of the TVS Star City Plus gets a chrome muffler, service reminder, electric start, semi-digital instrument cluster and dual tone mirrors. You get five colour options with the Electric Start MAG SBT variant: grey, blue, black, red and black silver.
Dual Tone SBT (BS4): Rs 56,034
At a premium of Rs 1,532 over the base trim, you get the option of three dual tone shades to choose from. Black/red, black/blue and grey/black are the options available. Everything else including the mechanicals remain the same.
Kargil Edition SBT (BS4): Rs 57,034
Exactly a year back in Feb 2019, TVS introduced the special Kargil Edition as a tribute to the Indian armed forces. It is Rs 1000 dearer than the TVS Star City Plus Dual Tone SBT variant. You get camouflaged graphics with a dark green base paint. A good option if you want to really stand out among a sea of other commuters. That said, we expected this version (or even the above two versions) to have limited availability at the moment as most showrooms would’ve mostly likely sold off their BS4 stocks.
Star City Plus BS6 standard: Rs 61,988
The TVS Star City Plus BS6 version, based on the Electric Start MAG SBT variant, was launched in Jan 2020. It commands a premium of Rs 7,486 over the base BS4 model. For the additional amount you get a fuel-injected engine, USB mobile charging port and a full-LED headlamp. TVS claims 15 per cent more fuel efficiency in this version compared to the BS4 variant.
Star City Plus BS6 dual tone: Rs 62,488
For just Rs 500 over the BS6 standard edition, TVS gives you the choice of a dual tone shade in the BS6 Star City Plus. Everything aside from the paint scheme, i.e. the features and engine, all remain the same.
Choosing a variant from the BS6 range makes more sense as you get more features and style along with increased mileage. That said, there are high chances that you might get a good deal on the remaining BS4 variants as we get closer to the stock clearance date (31st March).
