TVS to introduce low cost bikes in India

TVS India's third largest two-wheeler manufacturer recently disclosed its new idea of introducing the low cost TVS bikes in India. As enquired by the company officials, it is known that the bikes are basically to be designed for the rural areas. The driving force behind the idea is the growing demands for affordable products in Indian bike market. The company as well is flourishing well in market with its latest and ever new models fascinating the customers and thus increases sales. With the development of these low priced models, the company promises not to compromise with quality and efficiency of products. The current portfolio of the TVS bikes include TVS Star, TVS Apache, TVS Sport, TVS Flame, TVS Jive, TVS Wego, TVS Scooty, TVS MAX R, etc.
Till date cheapest bike from the company is TVS Star Sport that comes with a nominal price tag of Rs 32,000 (ex-showroom New Delhi) with an engine capacity of 100 cc. The famous company of the country have been availing its customers with most stylish and powerful bikes from years and the recent decision taken does not mean it would discontinue the production of Super bikes. With low cost models also, the company commits to provide its users with international designs. Around 600 or more engineers are working on these low cost models. Also a total amount of Rs. 100 crores is been sanctioned by the company for completion of this project.
With the new idea, TVS is also thinking over to start the production of electric two wheelers. With launch of these low cost motor bikes, the company expects its market share to grow by 2% and to reach 17% from the current share that is 15%. TVS has set a sales target of Rs 10,000 crores for the year 2012 and 6,000 crores for current fiscal year. This is not first time that the company is to develop low cost models, mopeds and scooter from the company are already running successful on the Indian roads. The company's motive is not just to grow but also to serve the mankind.
As per news received, Lakshami Venu, 27 year old daughter of Venu Shrinivasan(Chairman and Managing Director of TVS), is now appointed as the director strategy at the rank of Managing Director by Sundaram Clayton. Lakshami Venu is soon-to-be daughter-in-law of Infosys Chairman Narayana Murthy.
