TVS Wego gets Scooter of the Year Award 2011

TVS Wego has been awarded as the Scooter of the Year Award 2011 by CNBC-TV18 Overdrive. The Wego had been launched in India at the end of year 2009, still it is not available across India but doing well wherever it is present. The company also announced to launch it in Tamil Nadu recently. The demand of the mobile is overwhelming and the company has to plan for expansion of the production capacity.

TVS Wego is a gearless scooter that is installed with a 110cc powertrain. The air cooled engine is all aluminium low-friction which promises higher fuel efficiency. The TVS Wego mill pumps out a maximum power of 8 bhp at 7500 rpm and develops a top torque of 8 Nm at 5500 rpm. The scooter comes with self and kick start options. TVS Wego is a gearless scooter and performance wise leader in class.

TVS Wego is positioned against Honda Activa; however, the latter is a flagship model of Honda and in huge demand. Now the time will tell which will be the winner on rear ground that is sales. 

Other two-wheelers that got honoured at the same event includes Yamaha SZ X, Honda CB Twister, Bajaj Pulsar, Bajaj Discover, Suzuki GSXR 1000 and Ducati Monster 796. It is to be noted that Honda CB Twister has got two best bike awards for year 2011.
