Here’s all you need to know about TVS’ most affordable BS6 two-wheeler
TVS has launched the XL100 BS6 in India. It is the most affordable BS6-compliant TVS you can buy and gets features that are comparable to more expensive two-wheelers. Here’s all you need to know about the updated moped.
It is the most affordable fuel-injected two-wheeler you can buy:
The 99.7cc BS6-compliant motor now comes with fuel injection. Power output remains the same -- 4.4PS at 6000rpm and 6.5Nm at 3500rpm. TVS claims that the BS6 XL100 offers 15 per cent better mileage than before. It still uses a single-speed gearbox with a centrifugal clutch.

It now comes in three variants:
While the BS4 TVS XL100 came in six variants, the XL100 BS6 is available in three variants -- Standard, Comfort and Special Edition. TVS may add more BS6 variants at a later date.
It remains mechanically and cosmetically unchanged:
Other than a greener motor, there are no cosmetic updates to the XL100 BS6. It even gets the same graphics as the BS4 version. Features like an LED headlamp and USB charger have been carried over. The only changes are to the instrument console that gets an engine check lamp. On the mechanical front, the XL100 BS6 continues to use a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers. It gets 110mm drum brakes on both ends and 16-inch spoked wheels with tube-type tyres.
Weight has increased, though:
Owing to the addition of fuel injection and a revised exhaust system, the XL100 BS6 now weighs 89kg, making it 3kg heavier than the BS4 XL100. It continues to feature a 4-litre fuel tank. All variants now get an electric starter as well.
Prices:
The XL100 SB6 retails at Rs 43,932, Rs 43,602 and Rs 42,362 for the Standard, Comfort and Special Edition variants, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom Mumbai). That’s a premium of around Rs 3,500 over similar BS4 variants.
