The manufacturer is targeting other sporty commuter 125cc bikes in the segment
Hero MotoCorp has ambitious plans to introduce a host of new models in 2023 like the 2023 Xtreme 160R 4V. In addition to this, Hero is also gearing up to unveil the Xoom 125 and a new Destini later this year. Furthermore, the company is currently in the process of developing two brand new 125cc motorcycles set to debut in 2023-24.
One of the upcoming 125cc bikes aims to cater to the sporty commuter segment, offering stiff competition to the TVS Raider 125. While Hero already boasts several 125cc commuter bikes in its lineup, none of them directly challenge the Raider 125. To address this gap, Hero is expected to create a sportier version of the 125cc engine found in the Glamour Xtec model. The new bike will feature sporty and sharp design elements, along with Bluetooth connectivity features.
According to Hero's document, the other 125cc motorcycle is intended to make a mark in the premium 125cc segment. This model aims to compete with the likes of the KTM 125 Duke and possibly the Yamaha MT-15 V2. To achieve this, Hero plans to utilize a completely different 125cc engine, potentially incorporating liquid-cooling technology. We expect it to get premium suspension components and disc brakes at both the front and rear.
To regain its prominent position in the 125cc class, Hero must ensure competitive pricing for its bikes. As a reference, the TVS Raider starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,00,820, while the KTM 125 Duke and Yamaha MT-15 V2 are currently priced at Rs 1,78,892 and Rs 1,64,000 ex-showroom, respectively.
