Along with spreading its dealer network in the country, UML plans to launch new models soon
UM Lohia Two-Wheelers (UML) inaugurated another dealership in Mumbai today, strengthening its network in the country to a total of 22 stores. Located at Shop No 4, Rajprabha Land Mark, Industrial Estate, Bhoidapada Sativali Road, Vasai (E), this new showroom is spread over 2300 sq ft and will provide its customers with the same international level sales and service facilities like its other existing stores. For those who don't know much about the brand, UM Motorcycles is a US-based two-wheeler manufacturer that has entered India with entry-level premium cruisers. Till now, the company has launched two 280cc cruisers in the country -- the Renegade Sports S at Rs 1.64 lakh and the Renegade Commando at Rs 1.71 lakh (both ex-showroom, Vasai).
Inaugurating the new dealership, Rajeev Mishra, CEO, UML, said, “Our dealerships in Mumbai saw numerous walk-ins from customers who are based in the Western Suburbs of the city, hence it was imperative that we open a dealership here as well. We are confident that with the opening of this dealership, we would be able to tap the unlimited demand of this region. In addition to our flagship products; The Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S, the showroom will also be equipped to give after sales and service support to all customers. Increased demand buoyed by a strong product portfolio has prompted the company to look into the future with optimism.”
Along with providing its advanced cruiser models on sale, the Vasai UML dealership will also offer the entire range of UM accessories and apparel. Besides this, the customers will also be part of the 24x7 Roadside Assistance Programme (RSA) that is already being offered by UM Motorcycles for their customers pan India.
Both the UM Renegade Commando and the Sport S models are based on the same platform and powered by the same 280cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The motor uses a carburetor type fuel system to deliver 25PS of power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 21.8Nm at 7,000 rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed synchromesh transmission and, as per the company, sixth gear is overdrive, providing more efficient and silent operations on highways. Along with the comfortable ergonomics, the bikes offer interesting features such as USB charging port, storage area below the rear seat, and a wide rear tyre.
The company is also planning to widen its product line-up in India with the launch of the UM Renegade Classic sometime this year. The bike shares platform with the existing models in the country; however, it is expected to get EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
