UM Renegade Commando To Be Launched At Auto Expo, Price and Delivery Date Also Revealed

UM Motorcycles has finally confirmed that the first bike it is going to launch in India will be none other than the Renegade Commando. The information revealed via tweets and replies on the official account of ‘UM Motorcycles India’ that also says that the bike will be launched at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.

The upcoming UM Renegade range will be priced between Rs. 1.2-2 lac in India and deliveries of the Commando model will start from May 2016. Specifications of the bike are expected to be different from the one showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.

There is also a confusing tweet on the official account of the company. A fan asked, “Will this be um first bike?if this is it or similar lines then it's game changer” with a picture of UM Renegade Sport S. And UM replied, “Yes, this will be the first bike from the UM stable in India.”

Now, It seems that the company might be assuring the platform of the first motorcycle in India to be similar to the Renegade Sport S, because in the recent tweet it said, “Currently we're bringing only the Renegade Commando to India.”

So, we can expect that the new UM Renegade Commando that will be launched in India could get the new 279cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine, dropping the earlier revealed air-cooled one. The new fuel injected motor makes 26.6 PS of peak power and 22.76 Nm of maximum torque for the new Renegade Sport S. However, its tuning might be a little different for the Commando.

Initially, UM Motorcycles India is planning to set up dealerships in Bangalore and Hyderabad in the first phase, while tier two cities and towns will be part of phase two. The UM Renegade range will fight for the like of premium motorcycles like KTM 200 Duke, Mahindra Mojo 300, Honda CBR 250R and even Bajaj Avenger 220 range in the under Rs. 1 lac segment.
