Upcoming Bike Launches In April 2021: Updated TVS Apache RR 310, Suzuki Hayabusa BS6, Aprilia SXR 125, And More

This month is going to be exciting for bike buyers of all budgets

Despite the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Indian two-wheeler industry soldiers on with multiple launches planned for this month. From scooters like the Aprilia SXR 125 to premium bikes like the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa, this month has something interesting in store for enthusiasts of all budgets. Take a look: 

2021 TVS Apache RR 310

The 2021 iteration of TVS’s flagship track tamer, the TVS Apache RR 310, is all set to be launched virtually on April 7. The BS6-compliant version received many updates, including smartphone connectivity and multiple riding modes, making it the most feature-packed faired bike in its segment. 

But TVS intends to go one up with the 2021 model. Expect the Hosur-based bikemaker to update the suspension and perhaps, even extract more power out of the 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor. You can read all the details here.

2021 KTM RC 390

The KTM RC 390 has become a little too long in the tooth now. Even the BS6 update wasn’t as substantial as that on its sibling, the KTM 390 Duke. But now, KTM could change all that with the launch of the 2021 KTM RC 390, likely to happen this month. The bike was recently spotted testing abroad, and going by the test mule, it will have a revamped design somewhat similar to the legendary KTM 1190 RC8. 

Apart from the new styling, the bike will also get a new TFT instrument cluster, adjustable front fork, a redesigned sub-frame, new brakes, and alloy wheels. The engine is expected to remain unchanged, though. With the aforementioned updates, the bike could command a premium of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 over the current-gen model, which retails at Rs 2,65,897 (ex-showroom Delhi).

2021 Suzuki Hayabusa

The iconic Dhoom bike is back in its clean BS6-compliant 2021 avatar and is expected to head to our shores this month. The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is more of an evolutionary update rather than a revolutionary new model. The design is sharper, and the motorcycle gets various electronic aids to make it a little more ride-friendly. 

That said, the updates will come at a premium. Expect the bike to be priced at around Rs 18-20 lakh, considering early units would be imported via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. Aprilia SXR 125

Aprilia is all set to launch the smaller-engined maxi-styled scooter this month, the Aprilia SXR 125. In fact, pre-bookings have begun for a token of Rs 5,000. The upcoming scooter will have the same engine as that of the Aprilia Storm 125. However, expect the CVT in the 9.9PS and 9.6Nm motor to be tuned differently to suit the SXR’s character. Other aspects, including the underpinnings, design, and features, will be carried over from the Aprilia SXR 160. The scooter is expected to retail at Rs 1 lakh ex-showroom.

Triumph Trident 660 & Bonneville Bobber

Triumph will launch the Trident 660 in India tomorrow. It will be the British brand’s most affordable motorcycle in the country, likely to be priced at around Rs 7-7.50 lakh. It is powered by a 660cc triple-cylinder motor churning out 81PS and 64Nm. The Trident is loaded with tech like two riding modes, traction control, and even optional smartphone connectivity. The Trident 660 has the potential of becoming the next cash cow for Triumph as it slots right between the affordable (yet barebones) Kawasaki Z650 and the expensive Honda CB650R. 

The 2021 Triumph Bonneville Bobber will also be launched in India later this month. As part of the 2021 update, the Bobber will get a smoother torque spread (producing over 100Nm between 3000-5000rpm), smaller 16-inch front wheel with fatter rubber, and a larger 12-litre fuel tank. Expect the updated Bobber to retail at around Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom India).

Ducati Multistrada V4 & Streetfighter V4

Ducati will continue its BS6 onslaught with the launch of the Ducati Multistrada V4 and the Streetfighter V4 this month. Bookings for both bikes have commenced unofficially at select dealerships. Expect the Multistrada V4 to be priced at around Rs 20 lakh and the Streetfighter V4 at Rs 18 lakh (both ex-showroom India).

Besides the new V4 engine, the Multistrada V4 is loaded to the brim with features such as a radar-based cruise control and blind spot detection, smartphone-compatible TFT screen, and cylinder deactivation technology, among others.
