Here's the list of upcoming 300cc+ bikes that you can consider in 2022
A middleweight motorcycle is what you need if you seek good performance at an affordable price. To that end, here’s a list of such bikes likely to arrive in 2022.
2022 KTM RC 390
KTM recently launched the new-gen versions of the RC125 and RC200, and we expect the Austrian company to also launch the RC390 in India soon. The upcoming iteration of the RC390 will get an LED headlight with cowl-integrated indicators, a full-colour TFT instrument cluster, split-type seat, height-adjustable (by 10mm) clip-on handlebars, lean-angle-sensitive traction control system, cornering ABS, and the same 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. However, the engine will now feature a new rerouted exhaust system and 40 percent larger air-box resulting in 43.5PS (same as before) and 37Nm (1Nm of additional torque).
The new KTM RC390 is expected to launch by early 2022 at around Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
Royal Enfield Super Meteor & Shotgun
While we were expecting Royal Enfield to showcase the Super Meteor at EICMA 2021, the bike maker surprised us with the SG650 concept bobber, likely arriving as the Shotgun 650 in 2022. The bobber motorcycle will get a round LED headlight with LED indicators, a single-piece wide handlebar, a cantilever seat, chopped fenders, twin peashooter exhausts, and the same 648cc parallel-twin air/oil-cooled engine as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
Meanwhile, the Super Meteor will feature a step-up seat with a grab handle strap, disc brakes at both ends, alloy wheels, and an analogue instrument cluster. We also expect tripper navigation as an add-on accessory.
2022 KTM 390 ADV
KTM recently unveiled the 2022 390 Adventure globally, and it's expected to arrive in India by the first quarter of 2022. The upcoming iteration of the ADV will get two new colour options: black (with orange-coloured graphics) and orange (with teal graphics and highlights), two traction control modes (Street and Off-road), and reinforced five-spoke cast 19/17-inch wheels.
The 2022 iteration of the KTM 390 Adventure will demand a slight premium over the current model, which is priced at Rs 3,28,443 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Honda Rebel 500, CBR500R & CB500F
Honda is likely to expand its 500cc portfolio in 2022 with the launch of the Rebel 500, the fully faired sports bike CBR500R, and the naked roadster CB500F. All three bikes will be powered by a 471cc parallel-twin engine mated to a six-speed transmission. However, the power figures might vary. All three are expected to feature an LED headlight, a fully digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, dual-channel ABS, and a slip-and-assist clutch.
Yamaha R3
Yamaha recently updated the R3 with a BS6 motor, stoking speculation over the bike's India comeback next year. On its arrival in the country, Yamaha might localise components to make it more affordable, much like what Kawasaki did with the Ninja 300. We expect the motorcycle to come equipped with new updates as seen in the 2022 Yamaha R3, including the wide handlebar, lowered footpegs, front USD fork, and axial brake setup.
