Here’s what we think it could be…
After launching its first electric scooter under its new sub-brand Vida recently, Hero MotoCorp has shown that its intentions have not shifted entirely towards the electric segment, and that the brand’s very much focused on its ICE products as well. Why? Because a test mule of the updated Hero Xtreme 160R has been spied.
Now, Hero did update the Xtreme with a new edition recently, so what’s this one all about? Hero could also offer the new features found on the Xtreme Stealth Edition 2.0 as standard. The Xtreme 160R could now, hence could come with Hero’s bluetooth connectivity as standard.
Bits that we can see on the test mule is a seemingly redesigned switchgear on the left, while the right one looks identical.

While it’s not clear if the mule sports changes in the engine, the same slim forks, tyres, instrument console and overall design of the bike point towards the fact that the bike will be more or less the same as before. Considering that its chief rivals, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V make more power, we would love to see performance upgrades in the Xtreme 160R. For reference, the current-gen model makes 15.2PS and 14Nm.
The updated Hero Xtreme 160R could be here in some time and we expect to see a nominal hike in its price. For perspective, the single disc variant retails at Rs 1,18,616, while the double disc variant costs Rs 1,21,966 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). The Xtreme 160R goes up against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar N160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Version 3.0
