Here’s a quick look at all that happened in the two-wheeler space this week

The past six days have been action-packed with most manufacturers unveiling new or updated bikes for the upcoming year at EICMA 2018. From KTM and Ducati to Royal Enfield, it’s all here! We’ve summarised the most important bikes of the lot that will make it to India. On a different note, the upcoming Jawa motorcycle was spotted once again, this time without any camouflage. So, just in case you missed out, here's a summary of all the two-wheeler news from the week gone by.

Royal Enfield unveils Concept KX and showcases its 650cc twins

Royal Enfield unveiled the Concept KX, an 883cc V-twin concept, at EICMA 2018. The cruiser draws inspiration from the original KX from 1938 which was reportedly one of the most powerful bikes of its time. The Concept KX features LED lighting on either ends, a slender tank, a single, tan-coloured floating seat and a rear swingarm that creates the illusion of being a hardtail. As impressive as this sounds, the manufacturer has no plans of bringing it to production. However, the concept does give us a peek at RE’s future K series platform.

Royal Enfield also launched the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in Europe at GBP 5,500 (around Rs 5.25 lakh) and GBP 5,700 (Rs 5.44 lakh) respectively (both prices, on-road UK). Head here for more details.

Hero XPulse 200, XPulse 200T launch confirmed for early 2019

While everyone expected Hero MotoCorp to launch the XPulse 200 at EICMA, the homegrown manufacturer unveiled XPulse 200T along with four XPulse 200-based concepts instead. The XPulse 200T is a road-biased touring variant of the XPulse 200. Although the XPulse 200T and XPulse share the same 200cc engine, their ergonomics are quite different from each other. The manufacturer also confirmed that both these bikes will be launched in India by early 2019. The concepts, on the other hand, included a scrambler, desert tracker, flat tracker and cafe racer. Complete story available here.

KTM 390 Adventure disappoints at EICMA 2018

The KTM stall at EICMA 2018 turned out to be quite disappointing for many enthusiasts as the highly-anticipated 390 Adventure seemed to be missing from KTM’s stand. Despite the launch of the much-anticipated 790 Adventure twins, not seeing KTM’s smallest adventure tourer in the flesh was an absolute bummer. That said, the Austrian manufacturer might have a valid reason for not introducing the bike just yet, and here’s what we think might have happened.

2019 Ducati range revealed

Ducati unveiled its new range of motorcycles two days ahead of EICMA 2018. The 2019 lineup showcased at Ducati World Premiere included the Scrambler 800 and the Panigale V4R. While some bikes have received major design and performance updates, others feature new paint schemes for the upcoming year. Here’s a detailed look at Ducati’s 2019 lineup.

A clear picture of upcoming Jawa motorcycle surfaces online

While EICMA 2018 created quite a buzz amongst bike enthusiasts, one particular motorcycle seemed to grab headlines here in India. Mahindra-owned Jawa has been quite secretive about its upcoming motorcycle and even went to the extent of teasing everyone by just showcasing the bike's new engine a couple of weeks ago. The upcoming Jawa was spotted without any camouflage quite recently and the pictures suggest that the manufacturer has stayed true to the original design, albeit with modern components. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Jawa motorcycle.
