The Dayun Chi 302 is a 300cc streetfighter that looks eerily similar to the Kawasaki Z1000
The Kawasaki Z1000 is one of the most revered motorcycles we have today thanks to its aggressive Sugomi-inspired styling matched with a potent litre-class inline four engine. Unsurprisingly, Chinese manufacturer Dayun has ‘drawn inspiration’ from this iconic motorcycle to create its 300cc streetfighter, the ‘Chi 302’ (if the translations are correct).
The sleek angular headlamp is complemented by wide, muscular tank extensions with faux air intakes. With a 15-litre capacity, the chiseled fuel tank not looks massive but is also practical enough to let the rider tour comfortably. Dayun hasn’t spared the instrument cluster either, as it looks pretty much similar to the real deal from Japan. However, the exhaust is a little more sober looking than the quad stubby units in the Japanese naked.
The motorcycle is powered by a 285cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine churning out 29.23PS at 8500rpm and 27Nm at 6500rpm. These numbers aren’t exactly all that impressive for a twin-cylinder motorcycle as the India-spec KTM 250 Duke churns out 29.9PS and 24Nm despite being a smaller engined, single-cylinder bike. At 27.7kmpl, the claimed mileage is pretty much what’s expected of a quarter-litre parallel-twin bike.

Despite the slightly anaemic engine, Dayun has left no stone unturned when it comes to the motorcycle’s underpinnings. It gets a proper inverted front fork with preload adjustment, and a rear monoshock with stepless preload adjustability. There’s also a pair of petal discs with radial calipers up front, and a disc at the rear for optimum braking prowess. Dayun also offers adjustable levers, an all-LED lighting system, and a fully-digital instrument cluster.
Overall, Dayun seems to have its heart at the right place as the bike is well-equipped for its class. If only the company invested more in its design to make it a unique offering! What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
