It has a top speed of 64kmph!
Denver-based Ristretto Electric has opened pre-bookings for the Ristretto 303 FS (Full Suspension) Founders Edition. Limited to just 500 examples, the e-bike will be available in 10 colors. While it will set you back by USD 3,920 (Rs 2.85 lakh), the pre-order discount slashes the prices by 30 percent to USD 2744 (approximately Rs 2 lakh). So, what makes this e-bike worth the exorbitant price tag?
The 3.5kW Motor
While most e-bikes are equipped with a hub motor, the Ristretto 303 comes with a mid-mounted 3.5kW motor, which the company claims is the most powerful motor on an e-bike yet. This translates to a top speed of 64kmph, one of the highest among e-bikes. That said, you can only let out all the power within a private space or on a racetrack as per the US regulations. There’s also a street-legal ‘Road’ mode that will restrict its maximum speed to 45kmph.
This motor is paired with a 17.5Ah lithium-ion battery promising a range of upto 88km. That’s as much as the Ather 450X and twice that of the Honda PCX Electric. The claimed charging time is 5-6 hours, with no provision for fast charging yet.

Impressive Hardware
Complementing the powerhouse is the impressive braking and suspension setup. Ristretto has equipped the e-bike with beefy telescopic forks at the front and a unique dual shock setup at the rear, both fully adjustable. The 203mm discs at both ends take up braking duties on the Ristretto 303 FS Founders Edition. All that kit makes this a hefty e-bike, tipping the scales at 38kg. But thanks to the Shimano 11-speed drivetrain and assisted pedaling, uphill riding may not be as daunting.
Plethora Of Features
The US startup has thrown into the mix every possible premium feature. The e-bike gets dual projector headlamps with a claimed visibility of 91 metres. Then there’s the full-colour LCD console displaying all the essential information. Not only does it get Bluetooth connectivity to pair the brand’s app, but customers can also opt for a GPS/Anti-theft system on their e-bikes.
Will It Ever Come To India?
The Ristretto 303 FS Founders Edition is unlikely to grace Indian shores. That said, the e-bike market here is certainly gathering steam, and we have some interesting options in the market, including the EMotorad EMX, T-Rex, and the Karbon.
