It will share the 450cc liquid-cooled engine with the upcoming Himalayan 450 LC
It has barely been a year since the Royal Enfield Scram 411 came into existence, and now test mules of the Scram 450 are already doing the rounds on the internet. While the bike was previously spotted in India, this time around it’s been seen abroad. The Royal Enfield Scram 450 will act as a road-friendlier iteration of the upcoming Himalayan 450. That said, there are a bunch of differences compared to the upcoming liquid-cooled ADV.
For starters, the Royal Enfield Scram 450’s test mule featured a telescopic fork instead of the USD unit seen on the Himalayan. Furthermore, the Scram is rolling on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends instead of the 21/17-inch, wire-spoke rims, with new tyres seemingly from Ceat. And lastly, there’s the single-piece saddle instead of the split seat seen on the Himalayan. The mule does get all-LED lighting, though, along with the same indicator-integrated taillights we’ve seen on the upcoming HImalayan 450.

Of course, there’s no windshield or the side braces from the Himalayan or even the raised fender. It does get a saddle stay along with a rack though. There’s no instrument cluster either, but there are two devices mounted on the sleek-looking tank, likely to be data-logging equipment. The riding position is pretty upright (with a wide handlebar) but slightly sporty thanks to the rear-set footpegs.
The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine will be the same as the Himalayan 450. However, it might just have a different engine map or carry a few internal tweaks to suit the urban scrambler vibe. With around 40PS on offer, it should be apt for high-speed mile-munching too. Do note the coolant reservoir on the side, which will be covered up with the side panels.
We expect the Scram 450 to be priced around the Rs 2.6-lakh (ex-showroom) mark, and could be launched in India sometime towards the end of 2023. It’ll then go up against the smaller-engined and more affordable Husqvarna Svartpilen 250. With multiple bikes incoming under its 450cc portfolio, Royal Enfield is going to have a couple of really busy months.
