The Street Triple has been one of the best-selling middleweight sportsbike globally and the new one will just tighten its grip in the market
The Triumph Street Triple was launched in 2007 and ever since then it has grown its image as a motorcycle which offered a sweet balance between everyday usability, exciting performance and brilliant dynamics. Since then, Triumph has sold over 50,000 Street Triples globally, crowning it as one of the best selling middleweight naked motorcycle. It did get small cosmetic and mechanical updates in 2013, but the competition has urged Triumph to give the bike a definitive update. Ten years down the line, Triumph has finally updated its ageing bike.
The motorcycle will be offered in three variants – S, R and RS – depending upon the maximum power delivery and a few features. On June 12, we will get the Street Triple S in the country. The bike is powered by a 765cc three-cylinder engine which produces 113PS @ 11,250rpm and a peak torque of 73Nm @ 9,100rpm mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by Showa 41mm USD with 110mm travel at the front and Showa piggyback reservoir monoshock unit with 124mm travel at the rear.
The new Street Triple S gets twin 310mm floating discs with Nissin 2-piston sliding calipers at the front and a single 220mm fixed disc with Brembo single-piston sliding caliper at the rear. The motorcycle gets Pirelli Diablo Rossa Corsa 120/70 R17 tyre at the front and 180/55 R17 tyre at the rear. Seat height is 810mm, weighs 166kg and fuel tank capacity is 17.4 litres. The Street Triple S gets ride-by-wire, ABS, switchable traction control, gullwing swingarm, two riding modes – rain and road, LED position headlamps, LCD instrumental panel, a redesigned flyscreen with integrated air intake and new inner and outer radiator cowls.
We expect it to be priced between Rs 8.5 to Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi )
Watch out to this space for the Street Triple S launch.
