It’s sooner than you think, in fact, before the lockdown even ends!
- The updated motorcycle first broke cover towards the end of last year.
- Triumph has given the bike a minor styling update.
- The 765cc inline-triple motor’s torque output is now up by 2Nm.
There have been a few hiccups along the way, but the 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS finally has a revised India launch date. We are in the middle of a lockdown, but that’s not stopping Triumph, which has scheduled an online launch on April 22 at 11:30am. This comes nearly a full month after the original launch date of March 25 which had to be deferred due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
So, what can we expect next Tuesday? Well, we already know everything about the bike except its price. We know Triumph has revised the styling, so the bike’s signature bug-eyed headlights are gone, now replaced by a more mature setup with very smart-looking LED brows. Other small styling updates include a redesigned flyscreen, side panels, and seat unit.
The motor has also been reworked with progress being made on the internals. The end result is a 2Nm bump up in torque, so Triumph has also tweaked the electronics to keep up with the revised engine output. It’s even thrown in goodies like Bluetooth connectivity and a bi-directional quickshifter. As for the price, going by the pricing of the previous model in India and also the new prices abroad, we hope Triumph can offer the new RS for around Rs 12 lakh. This would equip it well to take on the KTM 790 Duke, Yamaha MT-09, and Suzuki GSX-S750.
