We had earlier reported that TVS was working on an updated version of the Apache RTR 200 4V, giving it a couple of new features along with some cosmetic updates. And now, from the looks of it, the brand is quite close to the production-spec model, which is likely to be launched in the next couple of months. What gives it away is the leaked image of the bike that’s surfaced online.
While the updates are fairly minimal the biggest visual change of them all is a new full-LED headlight flanked by pilot lamps. The headlight has been redesigned to look more aggressive, which gels well with the overall styling of the bike.
Reports suggest that the 2020 Apache RTR 200 4V will also feature a new instrument cluster with Bluetooth compatibility. TVS has been known to push the envelope when it comes to technology, and this console isn’t expected to be any different. Essentially, the console is likely to feature a bunch of new features along with turn-by-turn navigation. We wouldn’t be surprised if the brand introduces a new dedicated app for the bike, much like the NTorq.

In order to comply with the upcoming BS6-emission norms, the 2020 iteration will get a BS6-compliant engine featuring fuel-injection. It will most likely come with a 6-speed transmission rather than the current 5-speed gearbox, which should enhance the bike’s highway potential. The Apache RTR 200 4V in its current state of tune uses a 197.75cc fuel injected motor that produces 21PS of power and 18.1Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed transmission with slipper clutch.
Powertrain aside, expect the underpinnings to remain the same as its predecessor. The 2020 iteration is likely to be launched early next year with a premium of about Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 over the current non-ABS FI variant, which retails at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
