The 2021 Hayabusa is one of the most-awaited superbikes right now and it looks like Suzuki is making sure we don’t have to wait too long for it. Sources have revealed that the latest iteration of the iconic Dhoom bike is all set to arrive around the second half of March 2021, with deliveries scheduled from April. It’s expected to be priced around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). For reference, the 2020 Suzuki Hayabusa was priced at Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
Select Suzuki dealerships have also started accepting unofficial bookings for a token amount of around Rs 2-5 lakh. We suggest you contact your nearest Suzuki dealer to get a quote.
The 2021 India-spec Busa will come with a saree guard and a front-mounted number plate holder. We hope the saree guard or barbeque grill, as some call it, isn’t as humongous as on some other Japanese offerings in the market. Also, instead of the integrated indicators, the bike could get indicators mounted on the rearview mirrors like the KTM RC 390. Want to know how the new Busa fares against the old one? It will be powered by the same 1340cc inline four-cylinder motor but in a BS6-compliant guise. It now makes 190PS and 150Nm, 7PS and 5Nm less than its predecessor. The internals of the engine have been reworked for more refinement, improved low-end grunt, and better reliability. The bike also gets a bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control, and ride-by-wire as standard.
The 2021 Busa will come with a new design, full-LED lighting, updated bodywork, and an extensive electronics package including a six-axis IMU, wheelie control, six rider modes, traction control and engine braking. Not to forget, it will also get the new instrument cluster with a TFT display. For full details, you can read our launch report of the ‘21 Busa.
As for its components, the Busa employs the same fully adjustable KYB forks and monoshock but with tweaked internals for more grip and stability. The big change here is the bike now gets Brembo Stylema calipers up front, to help you put a leash on it. Subtle but important changes such as a lower seat height and a revised handlebar position (moved closer by 12mm) are also part of the updates.
Sources have also revealed that the 2021 Hayabusa could be displayed at select dealerships around a week before the commencement of deliveries.
With the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R not around, the Hayabusa will not face any competition in India.
