2022 Yamaha NMax 155 Launched In Europe

The update brings aesthetic as well as functional changes to the scooter

Yamaha has launched the 2022 iteration of the NMax 155 in the European market. The Japanese bikemaker has introduced a bunch of subtle changes to the maxi-scooter to make it more enjoyable for everyday riding.

The most obvious change comes in the form of the new design, which now borrows cues from its smaller sibling, the NMax 125, which was updated a few months ago. With these aesthetic updates, the new Yamaha Nmax 155 not only gets a sleeker LED headlight and a sportier bodywork, but more comfortable ergonomics and features including keyless ignition.

The revision to the frame of the Yamaha NMax 155 has made way for more legroom. Thanks to the slightly taller handlebar, riders of all sizes can ride it more comfortably. Furthermore, the fuel tank capacity has gone up from 6.6 litres to 7.1 litres, with a claimed range of 300km.

Another change comes in the form of the new CCU (Communication Control Unit), which can be paired with your smartphone. Once connected to the My Ride app on your phone, you can check all the vital information, including service and maintenance schedules, and even navigation, something that the Yamaha Y-Connect and the Yamaha ConnectX apps do not offer.

The 2021 Yamaha NMax 155 continues to be powered by the same VVA-equipped 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine sourced from the Yamaha YZF-R15. It draws 15.1PS at 8,000rpm and 14Nm at 6500rpm, similar to its sporty sibling, the Yamaha Aerox 155.

Yamaha has made no changes to the hardware either, and the same telescopic fork with 100mm travel and dual shocks with 85mm travel have been carried over. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends aided by dual-channel ABS.

As expected from a maxi-scooter, the Yamaha NMax 155 is loaded with features. It comes with a USB charger and a storage compartment at the front to charge your device on the go. Furthermore, the scooter now comes equipped with the idle stop-start system which shuts the ignition when idling for long periods.

The 2021 Yamaha NMax 155 goes on sale in Europe with a price tag of EUR 3,499 or roughly Rs 2.69 lakh, but we are unlikely to see it on Indian roads anytime soon. However, with the Aerox 155 available at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom), wouldn’t one pick the sporty maxi-scooter instead?
