The engine is now BS6.2 and OBD-2 compliant

The 2023 Honda CB300F has been launched with a price tag of Rs 1,70,000, marking a significant price drop of Rs 58,900 from its original launch price of Rs 2,28,900 (both ex-showroom Delhi), which was a year ago.

The update in the 2023 model is the 293cc air-oil-cooled, single-cylinder now being BS6.2 and OBD-2 compliance. It still generates 24.47PS and 25.6Nm. The rest of the motorcycle has also remained unchanged. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch, along with the USD fork and 5-step preload adjustable monoshock suspension setup.

Braking is handled by a 276mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. On the features front, the bike retains its fully-digital LCD instrument console, providing readouts such as speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and gear position indicator, accompanied by a clock.

Colour choices for the CB300F include Sports Red, Mat Marvel Blue Metallic, and Mat Axis Grey Metallic. It competes with rivals such as the BMW G 310 R, Apache RTR 310, KTM 390 Duke, Triumph Speed 400, QJ Motor SRK 400 and the Bajaj Dominar 400.

The significant price drop of the 2023 Honda CB300F coincides with the recent launches of the TVS Apache RTR 310 and the all-new KTM 390 Duke, both offering more compelling value propositions within their respective price ranges.

It's worth noting that at its initial launch, the CB300F was priced at Rs 2,28,900, just Rs 4,100 less than the impressively priced Triumph Speed 400 at Rs 2,33,000 (both ex-showroom Delhi). The Speed 400 boasts a larger liquid-cooled engine, superior build quality, and a host of advanced electronics.

While the price reduction is a welcome move, the updates in the CB300F are not substantial enough to make it stand out among its rivals. In hindsight, the motorcycle should have been priced at Rs 1,70,000 when it initially launched in August 2022.
