Does the new and updated TVS Jupiter 110 have what it takes to compete with the Honda Activa 6G?
The TVS Jupiter has been updated with a brand new design, underpinnings and a lot more features as part of the 2024 update package. The updated scooter goes up against the popular Honda Activa 6G which is the highest selling scooter in India.
In this image comparison, we will be taking the TVS Jupiter SmartXonnect Disc variant and the Honda Activa 6G H-Smart variant, and going over what each scooter has to offer and how they compare.
Design
In terms of design, the 2024 TVS Jupiter 110 has seen a lot of changes. The scooter now comes with a more premium looking styling, with a beautiful LED DRL and integrated turn-indicator setup mounted on the apron. The metallic TVS badging and overall look and feel makes the new Jupiter feel like a premium product.
The Honda Activa 6G on the other hand has remained the same, with the simple commuter design. It features a simple halogen headlight and taillight setup, along with bulb-type indicators. Overall, the Activa comes off as a no-nonsense family scooter that is just meant to get the job done, rather than being a good looking commuter which can offer a premium experience.
Engine
The TVS Jupiter gets a 113.3cc hybrid engine that produces 8.02PS and 9.2Nm. The hybrid assist also pushes the maximum torque output to 9.8Nm as well. The Jupiter also gets an Intelligent Start-Stop (ISS) technology which in theory should increase the scooter’s mileage
The Honda Activa on the other hand is powered by a 109.51cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which produces 7.8PS and 8.9Nm torque. So in terms of outright power and performance, the TVS Jupiter clearly wins.
Underpinnings
The TVS Jupiter and Activa share similar underpinnings, both scooters are suspended on a telescopic fork and a single-sided shock absorber. The Jupiter rolls on 12-inch alloys at both ends, whereas the Honda Activa gets a 12-inch alloy at front and a 10-inch alloy wheel in the rear.
Braking duties on the Jupiter Disc SmartXonnect variant are handled by a 220mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum. The Activa comes with 130mm drum brakes at both ends. So in terms of underpinnings, the Jupiter has a clear edge due to its larger wheels and better brakes.
Features
Features wise, the TVS Jupiter has a lot to offer. The first thing that stands out when looking at it from a family oriented scooter point of view, is the massive storage space. The Jupiter has an incredible 33-litres of boot space, thanks to the shifting of the scooter’s fuel tank to the floorboard. This also gives it an apron mounted fuel filler which is also very convenient.
In terms of connectivity features, the Jupiter comes with a fully digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity via TVS SmartXonnect , and related features like turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts and more.
The Honda Activa is a bit plain in this regard and the only thing it brings to the table is the keyless ignition and related features such as find my scooter, and the ability to lock/unlock your scooter, open the fuel cap/seat via the smart key. Overall, these features may not be much but they sure are convenient.
Which Scooter Should You Go For?
The TVS Jupiter 110 SmartXonnect Disc variant comes at a price of Rs 87,250 and the Honda Activa 6G costs Rs 82,684. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
Which scooter you should go for depends on what you are looking for, if you want a simple no nonsense family-scooter that also guarantees the reliability and refinement one can expect from a Honda, then the Activa is the way to go.
But if you’re someone who wants more in terms of looks, performance, underpinnings and features and aren’t shy of paying the premium then the TVS Jupiter 110 might be to your liking. If you still feel that the Jupiter 110 SmartXonnect Disc variant is a bit too expensive for what it offers, then you can go for the SmartXonnect Drum variant which costs Rs 83,250.
