Recently the bike was spotted at a dealers event, and we can deduce quite a bit
Yezdi has been working on reviving the iconic Yezdi Roadking name and it looks like they are close to that goal now as the Yezdi Roadking 500 and the Yezdi Roadking 350 were spotted at a dealer’s event recently. The bikes are a preview of sorts to the final production model. While you can read all about the Roadking 350 here, we analyse what we know about the Roadking 500 in the forthcoming paragraphs:
Yezdi Roadking 500 Design
The Yezdi Roadking 500’s raked out front, round LED headlight, circular LED indicators, twin pod instrument cluster come together really well in paying homage to the original Roadking. The console is likely to be an analogue unit with a digital inset.
With sharp lines, the fuel tank is a bit boxy looking but has a sleek profile, similar to what we saw on the original Roadking. Additionally, the design of the crankcase is also a throwback to what we had seen on the original Roadking.
Yezdi Roadking 500 Engine
Both Yezdi and BSA are owned by Classic Legends. Since BSA already has the Gold Star 650, it only makes sense for Yezdi to use that platform and come up with a smaller capacity bike as Yezdis are considered to be more accessible than the premium BSA bikes. With this taken into consideration, the Roadking 500's engine could have a capacity of around 450-500cc. We also know the engine will be a liquid-cooled one as the large radiator can be clearly seen in the video. It also has fins, which add to the retro appeal.
Since it will be a large capacity single-cylinder engine, it could be a torquey one. We wouldn’t be surprised if it produces around 40Nm, just like the now discontinued Royal Enfield Classic 500.
Yezdi Roadking 500 Underpinnings
The 2024 Roadking 500 appears to be built on a dual-cradle frame and is suspended on a telescopic fork and monoshock. The brakes are discs at both ends, likely with dual-channel ABS. The bike rolls on Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres, possibly with a 110-section up front and 130-section at the rear.
Expected Price, Launch And Rivals
We expect the 2024 Yezdi Roadking 500 to come at a price of Rs 2.5 lakh ex-showroom and could be launched somewhere around late 2024. The Yezdi Roadster will primarily go up against other roadsters in the market such as the QJ Motor SRC 500, Hero Mavrick 440, Harley-Davidson X440, Triumph Speed 400 and also the upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter 450, which had been spotted testing recently.
