The performance motorcycle segment in India was a segment that the manufacturers were not interested till a few years ago. However, with the passage of time and due to rapidly growing Indian economy, the auto giants revised their thoughts and began bringing the high-end performance bikes to India. The results came out to be quite pleasing and hence, the two-wheeler market here continued to boom up with hi-tech two-wheeled machines and masterpieces. One such marvel was launched a couple of days back by a Hyderabad based company - Eider Motors. With an extremely competitive pricing and stylish looks, will the Eider 650NK be able to create a stir in the premium motorcycle segment?

Today, we put two 650cc players against this new entrant. Now, the question is - Does it have the muscle to fade the other two out?

Styling and Appearance:

Needless to say, the ER-6n looks the most aggressive out of the three due to its sharper lines and edgy surfaces that runs across its length. The new entrant - Eider 650NK looks somewhat like a Benelli with integration of some impressive elements like projector headlamps, neatly chiselled fuel tank and a super sporty rear end.

Now coming to Hyosung, the bike looks quite appealing but now comes across as a bit outdated. The company has not made any changes to the bike since its inception and that’s the reason why it loses its shine in front of the other two when it comes to styling.

Engine and Performance:

The Eider 650NK comes powered by a 649.3cc Liquid-cooled DOHC 8-valve parallel-twin four-stroke engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission system. The fuel-injected engine churns out a net power of 55.9 Bhp with a peak torque of 62Nm. The Kawasaki ER-6n with its 649cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, parallel-twin manages to produce a peak power output of 71.11bhp with a maximum torque of 64Nm. Lastly, the Korean player - Hyosung GT 650N, which draws its power from a 647cc, four-stroke, V-twin engine, produces a maximum power of 72.68bhp along with 60.9 Nm of peak torque at 7500rpm. The Hyosung clearly beats the other two in terms of power but when it comes to refinement, the ER-6n takes the lead.

Chassis and Equipment:

All three bikes come equipped with 300mm dual disc brakes up front and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. While Eider and Kawasaki come with conventional telescopic forks at the front, the Hyosung GT 650N is the only one here to get inverted forks. The fuel tank in all three is also of almost equal capacities ranging from 16 litre to 17 litre. Now, what really differs is the type of chassis. The ER-6n sits on a double tube perimeter frame while the other two have been built on diamond frame and steel cradle frame respectively. This eventually makes the ER-6n more performance oriented than the rest of the two.

Pricing and Verdict:

Well, if you can get a 650cc motorcycle at the price of a 300cc, that’s nothing short of a treat. The Eider 650NK comes at a mouth-watering price of Rs. 3.37 lac (ex-showroom, Andhra Pradesh) and certainly worth considering if you are in the market for a 650cc motorcycle. Both the Kawasaki ER-6n and the Hyosung GT 650N that retail for Rs. 4.96 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs. 3.73 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively would compete with the new Eider 650NK. If price does matter to you, we suggest you to go for the Eider 650NK as it offers some really impressive features with fairly good performance. However, if you are looking for a perfect tool to enjoy the streets, the answer is standing clear in a signature green colour - the Kawasaki ER-6n.
