The all-electric Chetak is here and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Don’t believe us? Well, take a closer look at it here
[Update: Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launched In India]
Bajaj Auto has done what most other major two-wheeler manufacturers operating in the country are still planning to do - add an all-electric two-wheeler to their lineup. Although the Chetak name has a nice nostalgic ring to it, it comes with all the modern features that you’d expect from a modern electric scooter. And to explain it to you properly, we thought why not do it via a couple of images?
Looks absolutely stunning, doesn’t it? Although it’s an all-new scooter, you can see subtle hints of the old Chetak in the new one.
The round headlamp, the metal body and the flared arches seem to be inspired by the legendary Chetak.

Behind the LED headlamp, there’s an all-digital instrument cluster which shows useful rider information such as speed, time, range, battery percentage, and so on.
One of the coolest features that the all-electric Chetak gets is a keyless start-stop system. You don’t have to put the key inside the slot and turn it on like a Neanderthal. Instead, all you have to do is just press this button to turn on the scooter.
We are mighty impressed with switchgear that uses rich-looking piano black plastic. Good job, Bajaj!
In terms of features, it gets a USB charging port, reverse assist and two riding modes!
It gets a storage unit at the front as well. Now, we don’t have the exact numbers from the company, but we expect this unit to hold a considerable amount of luggage.
The new Chetak offers 19 litres of underseat storage, which should be enough for a full-face helmet and other knick-knacks.
It is powered by a 4kW motor. However, Bajaj hasn’t revealed the power output of the scooter yet. What it has mentioned is its range, which is pretty impressive. Its battery-pack can offer a range of 95km in Eco mode, which is more than its chief rival, the Ather 450!
The Chetak rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels with a front disc and rear drum brake setup. And oh, it gets regenerative braking as well!
Suspension at both ends is a single-sided affair, with a tubular steel design at the front while the rear swingarm is a cast aluminium unit.
There are six paint options on offer - matte silver, black, red, gold, white, blue and black. However, if we were to choose one, then it would have to be the silver paint option with the red stripes on the rim!
Bajaj’s first all-electric scooter will be sold through its Pro-Biking dealership network across the country. However, deliveries will first start in Pune and Bengaluru, followed by the rest of the country.
