Bajaj had unveiled its 150cc motorcycle, V15 on February 1, just before the 2016 Auto Expo. The prices of V15 are finally confirmed and the bike is priced at Rs. 61,999 in Delhi, Rs. 62,820 in Mumbai, Rs. 63,682 in Chennai and Rs. 65,495 in Kolkata (all prices ex-showroom). V15 is built with the metal from the remains of India’s first warship, INS Vikrant. Its official launch will take place next month and the deliveries are expected to start soon after that. This latest offering from Bajaj will compete with the likes of Yamaha SZ-RR V2.0 and Hero MotoCorp Achiever.
Some dealerships in the country have even started taking bookings for V15 against a token amount and the motorcycle has also reached dealerships and the customers can now even see it physically and experience it. Placed somewhere between Discover 150 and Pulsar 200 in the company’s line-up, it comes equipped with a 149.5cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled DTS-i engine that is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motor generates a maximum power of 11.84bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 13Nm at 5,500rpm. It also features a sporty removable rear cowl along with INS Vikrant insignia on the fuel tank, LED taillamp besides fuel level indicator and black alloy wheels.
V15 can straight away make an impact in the Indian two-wheeler industry as it is coming from the manufacturer of India’s most popular motorcycle, Pulsar and gets the same 150cc engine as well. Moreover, both its competitors, SZ and Achiever are not amongst the most liked bikes of the country.
