From ADVs to maxi scooters, there are quite a few interesting alternatives to the latest supersport from BMW

BMW G 310 RR

BMW launched its first entry-level supersport, the G 310 RR and its prices start from Rs 2,85,000 (ex-showroom). So if you find the sportbike a bit too expensive for what it has to offer, you’d be glad to know there are several alternatives around this price point that you could go for.

BMW G 310 GS- Rs 3,10,000

If you’re the touring kind, for Rs 25,000 more, you could look past the G 310 RR in a BMW showroom and get yourself the recently updated G 310 GS. With no compromise on performance, the G 310 GS offers the comfort and ‘go-anywhere’ assurance of an ADV. The GS would also provide you with more options to mount your luggage on, making it that much better for longer journeys.

2022 KTM RC 390- Rs 3,16,070

2022 KTM RC 390

Not happy with the G 310 RR’s power figures? This baby supersport from KTM packs 43.5PS and 37Nm, a colossal 9.5PS and 9.7Nm more than the Beemer. Along with the power, the Austrian track-tamer also packs a whole range of electronics like traction control, quickshifter, lean-angle sensitive ABS with Supermoto mode, and a TFT display that has bluetooth connectivity. In our recent road test, we also found the new RC 390 to be a lot more practical and usable in the real world than ever before.

So if you’re looking for a feature-packed sportbike with enough power to not only keep you entertained on your everyday commute, but also double up as your track weapon, the 2022 RC 390 should be something you should have a look at.

KTM 390 Duke- Rs 2,96,230

Imagine everything that we mentioned above in a streetfighter form, for a lower price. That means both your back as well as your wallet will be happy. For Rs 11,230 more than the standard variant of the BMW G 310 RR and in fact Rs 2,770 less than the Black Storm Metallic variant, you can get the 390 Duke, which packs as much power and performance as the RC 390, is that much easier to live with and the way it  looks will likely appeal to more people. If fast streetfighters are your thing, it’s hard to look beyond the 390 Duke in this price range.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650- Rs 2,88,814 to Rs 3,14,682

If the G 310 RR’s aggressive look and sharp lines are a bit too much for you, then the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650’s retro charm might just catch your fancy. For the same amount of money, you get an extra cylinder, 13.65PS & 24.7Nm more and a timelessly gorgeous-looking motorcycle.

Keeway Vieste 300- Rs 2,99,000 to Rs 3,20,000

While the Vieste 300’s 18.9PS and 22Nm from its 278.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine might not sound like a lot, it’s still the most powerful reasonably-priced scooter in India. Along with that you also get a proper European maxi-scooter styling and the practicality of a large underseat storage as well as a cubby hole.
