Our sources have revealed the BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 300 is slated to be launched in the first week of March 2021. Visually, the bike appears to be untouched, except for, of course, the new KRT livery. It’s expected to be priced around Rs 3.2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) -- Rs 20,000 more than before. Unofficial bookings for the bike are underway for a token amount ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000, depending on the dealership. We were expecting the BS6 Ninja to get several updates ranging from a new LED headlight to a full-digital instrument console and minor design tweaks. Unfortunately, Kawasaki has decided to play it safe and stick to the same eight-year-old design with a split halogen headlamp and dated analogue-digital display. The only other noticeable change, so to speak, could be the BS6-compliant 296cc parallel-twin motor. Its performance is likely to remain unchanged, with 39PS at 11000rpm and 27Nm at 10000rpm. Even if there is a drop, it will be insignificant. That said, the added weight of the larger cat, which is expected to go up by 1-2kg, may affect the bike's power-to-weight ratio. For reference, the BS4 bike weighed 179 kg kerb. That’s all there is to the BS6 Ninja 300. Its hardware will be carried over from the BS4 model.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 BS6 will go toe-to-toe against the BS6 KTM RC 390.
