BS6 BMW G 310 R And G 310 GS Spotted Testing In India, Slated To Launch Soon

This is the first time the G 310 twins have been spotted testing here

  • Both bikes were previously spied testing overseas.
  • BMW G 310 R BS6 comes with sleeker LED headlamp and revised tank extensions.
  • BMW G 310 GS BS6 also gets an LED headlamp.
  • Both bikes now get LED turn indicators.

The BMW G 310 twins were first spotted testing overseas. Apart from the obvious Euro 5/ BS6-compliant motor, both the bikes feature subtle cosmetic updates. We were also the first publication to break the news of a massive price cut for the upcoming BS6 G 310 R and G 310 GS. Our sources suggest that both the BS6-compliant motorcycles will cost Rs 75,000 to Rs 85,000 less than their BS4 counterparts. This translates to a price of around Rs 2.75 lakh for the BS6 G 310 R and Rs 3.30 lakh for the G 310 GS BS6 (both prices, on-road Mumbai). 

Both the bikes now come equipped with a full-LED headlight which makes them look a bit sharper than before. The G 310 R, on the other hand, gets a redesigned tank extension and revised headlight design. The update adds a certain flow to the overall styling of the bikes. The indicators are LED too. Apart from this, both the bikes remain cosmetically unchanged. The engine, which receives an all-black treatment, could be a part of the test mule camouflage colour scheme. 

BMW's reverse inclined 313cc single-cylinder engine is known to be quite vibey. The BS6 TVS Apache RR 310, on the other hand, which uses the same powerplant is considerably more refined. We believe BMW Motorrad may carry over similar updates as its sibling, the TVS Apache RR 310 BS6. Moreover, TVS managed to extract the same power figures as before despite the BS6 update, so we could expect BMW Motorrad to follow suit. For reference, both the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS’ 313cc liquid-cooled motor makes 34PS and 28Nm.

There doesn’t seem to be any change in underpinnings either. Both the  BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS use an upside fork and a monoshock. The latter features longer travel suspension owing to its off-road capabilities. The bike is anchored by a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard. While the G 310 R rides on 17-inch alloys at both ends wrapped with street tyres, the BMW G 310 GS gets a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloys wrapped with block pattern rubber.

According to our sources, BMW Motorrad may launch the BS6 bikes as early as August or September 2020.
