The BS6 BMW G 310 R & G 310 GS will feature an all-LED lighting system and subtle tweaks to the bodywork
- The BMW G 310 R BS6 features a sleeker LED headlamp and more muscular tank extensions.
- The BMW G 310 GS BS6 also gets an LED headlamp but the headlight cowl looks pretty much the same as before.
- Test mules of both the bikes featured blacked-out powertrains.
The BMW G 310 R BS6 and the BMW G 310 GS BS6 have been spotted testing for the first time. Apart from having a cleaner motor, BMW Motorrad has made only subtle changes to the motorcycle -- that too only in the cosmetic department. Our sources have revealed that the BS6 iterations could be significantly more affordable.
The BMW G 310 R features a sleeker, slightly more angular all-LED headlamp. The little flyscreen up top features a transparent panel instead of the blacked-out one in the BS4 version. The indicators are LED too. BMW has slightly tweaked the tank extensions too. They look more muscular and appear to be more coherently designed compared to the three-piece split layout in its predecessor.
The frame, engine cowl, single piece seat and the tail panels all appear to be the same as before. BMW has gone for an all-black treatment in the powerplant but it could be a part of the test mule camouflage colour scheme.
The BMW G 310 GS features the same headlamp cowl but the unit is now all-LED. Like the new-gen naked, this motorcycle also features LED indicators. Apart from these changes, the rest of the motorcycle appears to be the same.

The BS4-compliant engine wasn’t all that well known for its refinement. On the other hand, refinement of the new-generation Apache RR 310 has improved considerably. So it is possible that BMW Motorrad may carry over similar updates which its sibling, the TVS Apache RR 310 BS6, received. TVS managed to make the engine run cleaner without compromising on its output figures, so expect BMW Motorrad to follow suit. To give you a perspective, both the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS’ BS4-compliant 313cc reverse inclined liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor churns out 34PS and 28Nm.
The underpinnings also seem to be untouched. Both bikes get an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock. The BMW G 310 GS’ suspension offers longer travel to suit its character. Brakes include a 300mm front disc with radial caliper and a 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard. While the G 310 R rides on 17-inch alloys at both ends wrapped with street tyres, the BMW G 310 GS gets a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloys wrapped with block pattern rubber.
According to our sources, BMW Motorrad is likely to launch the BS6 bikes in September. The automotive market hopefully would’ve stabilised by then. As far as the pricing is concerned, we have some really good news for you! Read all about it here.
