RTO documents that were leaked online recently suggests that Honda is likely to launch the BS6-compliant Shine SP this week
- The BS6-compliant CB Shine SP should make slightly more power than before.
- It is likely to be offered in three variants.
- Expect the bike to get dearer by around Rs 6,000.
Earlier this month, Honda had sent out a ‘Block your date’ for a press conference that is scheduled for tomorrow. We believe that the Japanese brand is likely to launch of the BS6-compliant CB Shine SP at tomorrow’s event as a recently leaked document revealed details about the specifications of the upcoming bike.
As per the leaked document, the motorcycle makes 10.88PS, which is 0.38PS more than the existing model. The engine will be fuel injected and the come mated to the same 5-speed transmission as before. Interestingly, the BS6-compliant model’s dimensions are different too, suggesting that the new motorcycle could be based on a tweaked chassis and perhaps get revised bodywork too.
That said, expect the underpinnings to remain unchanged. It is likely to carry over the same telescopic fork, twin rear shock absorber setup and the brakes (drum on both ends with an optional front disc) from the current model.
The document also reveals that the upcoming motorcycle will be available in three variants: front disc and rear drum, DLX variant with either drums on both ends or a front disc-rear drum combo. Honda has already stated that its BS6-compliant models will get a price hike of around 10 per cent to 15 per cent, so expect the base version of the CB Shine SP to start from around Rs 71,000. The current-gen CB Shine SP is priced from Rs 65,579 for the CBS-equipped drum brake variant. When launched, the bike will compete against the Bajaj Discover 125 and Hero Glamour FI. It will also be India’s first 125cc motorcycle with a BS6-compliant.
