TVS has already launched the BS6 versions of the Jupiter, RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V

  • The BS6 Radeon will be launched in India next month.
  • The updated 109.7cc motor is likely to witness a drop a performance.
  • Sources suggest it may command a premium of around Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 over the base model.
  • New colour schemes could be on the cards.

TVS dealerships across India have revealed that the BS6 Radeon will be launched in India in January 2020. It’s likely to carry a premium of around Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 over the base model, which retails at Rs 51,360. The celebratory edition, on the other hand, gets a starting price of Rs 53,260 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). We can expect to see updated color schemes as well.

The huge price hike may feel a bit unreasonable at first, but it makes sense once you break it down. For perspective, the Radeon it likely to be fuel-injected, which requires an ECU, engine modifications to run BS6 fuel, and alterations to the catalytic converter as well as lower tailpipe emissions. Plus, odds are TVS may come up with new paint schemes to give the bike a fresh look. New features aren’t an implausible thought either.

That said, changes to the engine may take a toll on its performance, just like in the BS6 RTR 160 4V and 200 4V. In its current state of tune, the Radeon BS4 model makes 8.4PS at 7000rpm and 8.7Nm at 5000rpm, mated to a 4-speed gearbox.

On the flipside, its underpinnings are likely to remain unchanged. It’ll continue to employ a telescopic fork and a twin shock absorber setup. Braking could be offered in two options: drum and disc.

All said and done, this would be the perfect opportunity to get your hands on a BS4 celebratory edition Radeon, especially if you’re based in Delhi NCR. TVS dealerships are offering various offers on the commuter in a bid to clear the existing BS4 stock. So, you could opt for a low down payment of Rs 9,999 or a low-interest rate of 6.99 per cent per annum. Alternatively, you could get cashback of up to Rs 7,000 on Paytm.
