The BSA Gold Star was recently launched on the 78th Independence Day of India with online bookings open. Shortly after the launch the deliveries for the bike started across India. BSA launched the Gold Star starting from Rs 2,99,990 and going up to Rs 3,34,990 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). This big 650cc single-cylinder bike is available for sale in the Jawa-Yezdi Motorcycle dealerships across India
BSA is an old motorcycle brand which has been reintroduced in the Indian market by Mahindra and Classic Legends with its only offering, the Gold Star 650. The BSA Gold Star is a handsome-looking retro roadster-style bike that is powered by a 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The engine makes 45.6PS at 6500rpm and 55Nm at 4000rpm. The overall ‘old-school’ design of the bike acts as a time machine taking you back to simpler times. The twin-pod analogue instrument console complements that feeling, but it also gets modern features like a digital inset on both instrument pods for additional information, a side-stand sensor, an anti-theft system and a USB charging port. The bike is available in 6 attractive colours to choose from: Insignia Red, Highland Green, Midnight Black, Dawn Silver, Shadow Black and Silver Sheen - Legacy Edition
Being a big single-cylinder engine it will deliver a unique riding experience compared to what is available in the market and brings something new to the table. The BSA Gold Star rivals the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 which has been quite successful in the market. Will this Gold Star pose a threat to the Royal Enfield 650cc bikes? Only time will tell. However, its price tag is Rs 3,000 cheaper than the Interceptor 650 and it is not only 17kg lighter but also has a 24mm lower seat height which will certainly give the BSA Gold Star an upper hand.
