The Gold Star’s features list is pretty adequate for a retro roadster

The Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) made its comeback to the Indian two-wheeler market with the launch of the Gold Star. The return of a nameplate as iconic as that has made everyone excited for sure and also eager to know everything the bike gets. Here is a detailed look at its features:

The BSA Gold Star gets a dual-pod semi-digital instrument console. The pod on the left hand side has an analogue speedometer and a digital inset that shows odometer readings. The pod on the right hand side has an analogue tachometer and a digital inset that shows fuel gauge readings. There is also an additional smaller pod in the middle that shows various tell tale lights like neutral gear position indicator, side-stand indicator and more. The analogue pods complement the overall retro vibes of the roadster very well.

The Gold Star also gets a USB charging port and a side-stand indicator. Even though the bike doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, you can mount your phone on the handlebar with an aftermarket phone holder and charge your phone on the go with the USB charging port. It also gets an anti-theft engine immobiliser, which prevents the engine from getting started without the use of the correct key. In terms of lighting, the headlight, turn indicators and taillight are LED units, pulling on that retro card pretty hard. Another safety feature of the bike is the availability of dual-channel ABS as a standard feature.

The BSA Gold Star is the biggest capacity single-cylinder roadster on sale in India, as it is powered by a 652cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 45.6PS at 6500rpm and 55Nm at 4000rpm. One cool design feature of the engine is that the liquid-cooled motor has been designed to make it look similar to the air-cooled motors of the past, which goes splendidly with the rest of the bike’s retro design.

The BSA Gold Star’s prices range from Rs 2,99,990 to Rs 3,34,990 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). It rivals the likes of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Kawasaki Z650RS.
