Classic Legends is set to launch the BSA Gold Star in India, likely positioning it above its existing brands, Jawa and Yezdi. We received a media invite confirming the event, which will take place on Independence Day, August 15, 2024. The invite mentions that ‘Classic Legends is unveiling something big, bold, and authentically British.’ Moreover, the invite has the iconic ‘Three-rifle logo’ of the original BSA Gold Star.
The 650cc bike sports a timeless retro-roadster design with chrome treatment all around, which enhances its appeal even more. It has a round halogen headlight for the retro vibe, but the tail light and indicators are LEDs. The bike has a single-piece seat and features a peashooter exhaust.
The BSA Gold Star has been testing for a long time now, being papped the last time back in October 2023. It is already being sold in the United Kingdom (UK) and is equipped with a 652cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, engine that produces 45.6PS at 6500rpm and 55Nm at 4000rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. This big single-cylinder engine will provide a unique riding experience.
The 650cc retro roadster comes equipped with an analogue twin-pod instrument cluster which shows the speedometer, tachometer and complements the overall classic design of the bike. Moreover, there is an LCD inset in each pod –the left one shows odometer and tripmeter readings and the right one shows the fuel level. There is another small pod that shows the basic telltale lights. The bike also has a side-stand sensor and an anti-theft immobiliser device.
Underpinnings include a 41mm telescopic fork and 5-step preload-adjustable twin rear shock absorbers. Braking is handled by a 320mm floating disc at the front and a 255mm rear disc with Brembo callipers, and dual-channel ABS. The UK-spec BSA Gold Star 650 rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, wrapped with 100-section front and 130-section rear Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres. With a kerb weight of 213kg, the Gold Star has a set height of 780mm.
While it is designed in the UK, the Gold Star 650 will be a made-in-India bike. We expect it to be priced at around Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
