Is the upcoming Hero Xoom 125R worth the wait or should you buy the TVS Ntorq 125, find out:
In the past, Hero MotoCorp had revealed that the Xoom 125R scooter would launch by the end of 2024. The introduction of the Xoom 125R will cater to the 125cc sporty scooter segment, a highly competitive market. This segment is currently headed by TVS Ntorq 125, which has been performing very well since it entered the market. Now that we’re halfway through 2024, the question arises: should you wait for the Hero Xoom 125R or buy the TVS Ntorq 125?
Let’s take a brief look at what the two scooters offer and we will help you answer the question of whether you should wait or not.
TVS Ntorq 125
The TVS Ntorq 125 has a sporty aesthetic and performance, it is liked by many younger-generation riders and is one of the highest-selling scooters in the 125cc segment. The TVS Ntorq 125 starts from Rs 89,841 (ex-showroom). The scooter is available in a bunch of attractive colours like Matte Red, Metallic Blue, Metallic Grey and Metallic Red colours in the base variant. The Race Edition comes in Race Edition Red and Race Edition Marine Blue colours. The Super Squad Edition is available in colour options: Amazing Red, Lightning Gray, Combat Blue, and Stealth Black. The most powerful variant, called the Race XP variant is offered in Race Red Black colour while the most feature-loaded, flagship variant Race XT variant comes in a Neon colour. If these weren’t enough, TVS has also teased the launch of a new Dark Edition.
The scooter is powered by a 124.8cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 9.38PS and 10.6Nm on all the variants except the NTorq 125 Race XP, which is tuned for a higher output of 10.2PS and 10.9Nm.
The Ntorq 125 is packed with features like, the base variant has a basic digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity. The console showcases call and SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, a lap timer, engine temperature details, phone battery and signal strength indicators, last-parked location assistance, voice assist and an exclusive rider's app assistance.
The Race XT variant takes a step further, featuring a TFT display with two screens, offering turn-by-turn navigation. It even displays notifications from social media, food delivery, and e-commerce apps. It also displays 'Live Cricket Scores' on the go! Other features include a 20-litre underseat storage compartment with a boot light, along with a USB charger located in the boot.
Hero Xoom 125R
The Xoom 125R is Hero MotoCorp’s effort to compete in the 125cc sporty scooter segment. The Xoom 125R has been showcased earlier by the company and could be launched by the end of 2024. It looks premium with a sporty design. The scooter will likely be powered by a 124.6cc, air-cooled engine producing 9.5PS and 10.16Nm.
In terms of features, the scooter will probably come with LED lighting all over. It looks like the scooter will get a simple-looking digital instrument console packed with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. Hero might give the scooter some more interesting features, like cornering lights as seen on the 110cc Hero Xoom. The Xoom 125R will help Hero in expanding its presence in the 125cc segment which will attract more customers.
Should You Buy Or Hold?
The TVS Ntorq 125 has continued with the same design for a very long time. However, they have been releasing new colours and graphics every now and then. If you’re looking for something new, the Xoom 125R will sport a fresh design that will stand out from the crowd. The Hero two-wheelers have had a reputation of being reliable and cheap to maintain, we can expect them to deliver the same with the Xoom 125R which could give better fuel economy than the Ntorq 125.
Making the decision depends on you: whether you're ready to wait for the upcoming Hero Xoom 125R or if you prefer the tried and tested TVS Ntorq 125.
