The highly anticipated Hero Vida V1, Hero MotoCorp’s first electric scooters, have been launched. The e-scooter will be offered in two variants: V1 Plus and V1 Pro priced Rs 1,45,000 and Rs 1,59,000 (ex-showroom). Booking will open online for select cities- Bengaluru, Jaipur and New Delhi on October 10 against a token amount of Rs 2,499 and deliveries will commence in the second week of December.
The V1 Pro uses a 3.94kWh (IP67) battery pack whereas the V1 Plus gets a 3.44kWh (IP67) unit. As a result, the IDC range of the models are, respectively, 165km and 143km. The battery pack is removable and Vida claims a fast charging time of 65min (0-80 per cent) for it.
Hero is offering the Vida V1 with a standard five-year or 50,000km warranty on the scooter while the batteries are secured against a warranty of three years or up to 30,000 kilometers. Each one of these removable batteries weigh about 12kg.
In terms of performance, both models get an IP68 rated motor which claims a top speed of 80kmph. However, the V1 Pro posts quicker acceleration times, doing a 0-40kmph in 3.2seconds. The V1 Plus isn’t far behind, completing the 0-40kmph run in 3.4seconds.
With regard to features, the Vida V1 gets LED lighting and both the headlight and taillight really give this scooter a very distinct identity. Also, this smart-looking EV has a very cool trick at play at the back and under the split seat.
In terms of features, you get useful stuff like anti-theft alarm, track my bike, geo-fencing, remote immobilization, follow-me headlamps, vehicle diagnostics and an SOS button positioned on the switchcube.
Its storage compartment is a modular unit. Essentially, the under-seat area houses the swappable battery and behind it is the storage compartment girded by a removable fairing and pillion seat. Take the cover off and you can maximise the standard 26-litre storage space to squeeze in more items.
The Vida V1 is also rolling with some cool tech. It gets keyless access, a 7-inch colour TFT display and beautiful switch cubes for various functions. The electronics on the Vida V1 are IP65 rated. It gets three riding modes (Eco, Ride and Sport) as well as a fully customisable ride mode in which you can set the regenerative braking capabilities and acceleration to your liking. You also get negative throttle for reverse mode and short boost function.
The e-scooter will be retailed across New Delhi, Jaipur and Bengaluru as of now and this network will widen over the years. The Vida V1 Pro will rival the Ather 450X, TVS iQube ST, Ola S1 Pro and the Bajaj Chetak.
