The baby ADV was fully kitted out with saddlebags and a top box as well

  • It was equipped with touring accessories and dual-purpose tyres.
  • Expected to share mechanicals and underpinnings with the 390 Duke, albeit with slight changes.
  • KTM is likely to launch the bike in India by late 2019.
  • Expected price around Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).

A little over a month after it was first spotted testing in India, the KTM 390 Adventure has been spied again. And while the camouflaged adventure bike looked similar to the one spotted earlier, this time it was kitted out with touring accessories like saddlebags and a tail-mounted top box. In all probability, these accessories will be offered as an option by KTM once the 390 Adventure is launched in India.

And like the test mule spotted last month, this one too was riding on alloy wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear) that were shod with dual-purpose Continental TKC 70 tyres. Since the international 390 Adventure test mules were seen with spoked wheels, it is expected that KTM will introduce two variants of the bike with the spoke-wheel variant being more off-road biased.

In terms of underpinnings, the 390 Adventure will use a modified version of the 390 Duke’s trellis frame. The test mule also seems to have some sort of front suspension adjustability, as evident by the red knobs atop the fork legs. As for the bike’s engine, it is likely to be altered for better low- and mid-range power compared to the Duke. The latter is powered by a 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 43.5PS of power and 37Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission.

KTM had originally said that the 390 Adventure will be launched in India in 2019. And although the test mules look production ready, our sources have informed that it is expected to be launched in India by late 2019, after its global debut at the EICMA motorcycle show. As for the price, expect it to retail for around Rs 3 lakh. When launched, the KTM 390 Adventure will go head to head with the BMW G 310 GS (Rs 3.49 lakh), the Kawasaki Versys X-300 (Rs 4.69 lakh) and the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 1.79 lakh) (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
