Becomes the best-selling scooter in Hero’s portfolio within two months of launch
- The Hero Destini 125 was launched in October 2018.
- It is Hero’s first ever production 125cc scooter.
- It comes with features like i3S (Start-Stop technology) and IBS (Integrated Braking System).
- Prices for the scooter start at Rs 54,650 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Hero Destini 125 is a bold bet on several counts. Not only is it the company’s first production 125cc scooter, it also happens to be the most affordable one in its segment. The scooter was earlier showcased at Auto Expo 2018 as the Duet 125, before Hero settled on the ‘Destini 125’ moniker for its launch. However, those bets seem to have paid off as the Destini 125 has clocked sales of 17,364 units for December 2018.

As a result, the Destini 125 has become the best-selling scooter in Hero’s portfolio, which includes 110cc offerings like the Duet, the Maestro Edge and the Pleasure. In fact, sales of the scooter have been encouraging right from the time it was launched in October last year, when it sold 5,556 units. In November, 16,047 Destini 125s were sold by the company. The next best-selling scooter from Hero in December 2018 was the Pleasure with 6,725 units.

The Hero Destini 125 is powered by a 124.6cc engine that produces 8.8PS of power and 10.2Nm of torque. It also gets Hero’s patented i3S technology that shuts off the engine if it idles for more than 5 seconds. To fire up the engine again, the rider only has to actuate one of the brake levers or open the throttle. According to Hero, this makes the Destini 125 supposedly more fuel efficient. The scooter also gets IBS, which is how the company brands its CBS (Combined Braking System) as.

The Hero Destini 125’s trump card is its lower sticker price compared to other offerings in the segment. With a price tag of Rs 54,650, it undercuts rivals like the Honda Activa 125 (Rs 59,921) and the Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 55,977).
