Both scooters are likely to command a premium of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 over their current models

  • The Maestro Edge 125 will be Hero’s new flagship scooter.
  • It will share its engine with the Destini 125.
  • The 2019 Hero Pleasure will be powered by a 110cc motor.
  • Both scooters will get Hero’s i3S start-stop technology.

This month seems to belong to Hero MotoCorp. Yesterday, the company launched three new motorcycles, the XPulse 200, 200T and the Xtreme 200S. And if you are thinking that these are the only two-wheelers that the company has lined up for this month, you’d be wrong. Because Hero is going to launch the all-new Maestro Edge 125 and the 2019 Pleasure on May 13.

Hero had first showcased the Maestro Edge 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will be powered by the same 124.6cc engine as seen on the Destini 125, but Hero will be tweaking it to a sportier state of tune. In its current state of tune, the motor produces 8.8PS of power and 10.2Nm of torque. We expect the scooter to get fuel-injection and be BS6 compliant, which will be firsts for any scooter in the country.

The Maestro Edge 125 is likely to feature the same suspension setup as the Destini 125 - telescopic forks at the front and a single hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. But just like the current Maestro Edge, this 125cc version will ride on a larger 12-inch front wheel. It’s very likely that Hero will offer a front disc brake option, although there might also be a drum-drum base variant to keep the starting price low. The scooter will come with CBS as a standard safety feature.

In terms of features, expect the new Maestro Edge 125 to get LED lights at the front and rear, a semi-digital instrument cluster and Hero’s i3S start-stop technology.

Back in March, the 2019 Hero Pleasure was spotted for the first time, during an ad shoot. And we expect it to be powered by a bigger 110.9cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor seen on the Duet and Maestro Edge. Just like the Maestro Edge 125, the 2019 Hero Pleasure is also likely to get i3S technology.

As far as prices are concerned, expect the Maestro Edge 125 and the 2019 Pleasure to command a premium of around Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000 over the current models. The Maestro Edge 125 will go up against the TVS NTorq and the Honda Grazia, while the new Pleasure will rival the Honda Activa i, TVS Scooty Zest and the Yamaha Ray-Z.
