The Himalayan 450 will have a new competitor soon
The Hero XPulse 400 is an upcoming ADV offering from Hero MotoCorp and over the past couple of months we have seen the bike being tested multiple times. We expect the bike to be unveiled at EICMA 2024 along with the Hero XPulse 210. Here’s everything we know so far about this upcoming ADV.
It features a typical ADV style design with the raised fender, wide handlebars and tall profile. The bike overall looks quite large with its massive looking tank extensions and also the fatter tail section. It gets a raised exhaust, similar to what we have seen on the outgoing Hero XPulse 200 4V.
We expect the bike to be powered by the same 440cc, air and oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Hero Mavrick 440 but with a few changes. On the Mavrick, the engine outputs 27PS and 37Nm. The long stroke nature of it offers a lot of torque at the lower end of the rev range. We expect Hero to make a few changes, such as the addition of a larger rear sprocket, to increase its bottom-end grunt. This will make the bike a lot more off-road friendly.
Judging by the spy shots, it is clear that the bike comes with large spoke wheels, likely a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear setup with dual-purpose tyres.
We expect the Hero XPulse 400 to feature a fully-digital instrument console, with smartphone connectivity. It could offer call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation among other things. We also expect the bike to have switchable ABS at the rear, which will allow riders to turn off ABS at the rear wheel, which will allow for controlled slides.
The bike could be launched in India by mid-2025, and could have an ex-showroom price around the Rs 2.4 lakh mark. It will go up against other ADVs in the 300-400cc segment, such as the Yezdi Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
Currently, the 400cc ADV segment doesn't have any long-stroke options after the discontinuation of the Himalayan 411, and the XPulse 400 could fill in that gap quite well.
In other news, Hero had recently announced that they will be unveiling 4 new models at EICMA 2024, and it seems like the brand has quite a few surprises planned for us.
