HMSI Claims To Be Number One In India

The Indian two-wheeler market would be dominated by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India within one decade, it has been claimed by Shinji Aoyama, the president and CEO of HMSI. The company has targeted Indian Rural areas with launching plan of its first 100cc bikes in India. Right now, the company has 110cc Honda CB Twister in the domestic market which is doing well and now ready to bring an entry-level 100cc bike.
As per Shinji Aoyama this 100cc bike would push the sales of the company and help to grab the number one position in Indian two-wheeler market. Presently the demand for this type of bikes is from the urban areas which will be filled up in the next decade.
Since June 2007, Shinji Aoyama is the president of HMSI who has provided new heights to the company and now going to join the parent Honda Motor Company from April 1st 2011 for five years. And now Keita Muramatsu will be new president and CEO of the Indian arm of Honda Motorcycle.
Day by day, HMSI is doing well in the Indian market and it has targeted to sell 16.5 lakh units of bikes with a growth rate of more than 30 per cent. The company aimed to get 27 per cent growth with sales of 21 lakh units of the bikes. The upcoming Honda CBR 250R would make a good role to achieve this target. While 100cc bike is under production and would be launched in 2012. This bike would an answer to Hero Honda Splendor, Hero Honda Passion Pro, Bajaj Platina and TVS Star and Sport which is the lowest priced bikes among these.
The Indian motorcycle market is growing with unexpected growth and is dominated by Hero Honda with sales turnover of around 40 lakh units par annum. But now this Joint venture has gone separate ways. At present HMSI includes lots of popular bikes in its portfolio such as Honda Shine, Honda Stunner, Honda Unicorn, Honda Dazzler and Super bike Honda CBR 1000RR etc.
