Honda India is working on a 100cc commuter motorcycle to take on the extremely popular workhorse segment in India. Once launched, the bike will rival the likes of Hero Splendor Plus, TVS Radeon and the Bajaj Platina 100.
Earlier in April, we reported that the Japanese marquee is working on a commuter motorcycle, and in a recent interview, HMSI CEO and MD, Mr Atsushi Ogata confirmed the arrival of a 100cc Honda bike.
In terms of smallest displacement offerings, Honda boasts of the CD110 and Livo in its portfolio. That said, both bikes fall in the 110cc segment, and are priced from Rs 70,315 and Rs 75,002 respectively. So with the upcoming 100cc Honda bike, the Japanese manufacturer will have to keep the pricing even lower.

For perspective, the Hero Splendor is the best-selling bike in India with more than 2 lakh sales every month. But at a base price point of Rs 70,000 (ex-showroom), it is still somewhat expensive for what it offers. If Honda manages to keep the pricing competitive, it will have a real shot at dethroning the king of commuters.
