Honda begun constructing its second two-wheeler plant

The country's major two-wheeler manufacturer, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has begun construction of its second two-wheelers plant at Tapukara Industrial Area in Alwar district near Bhiwadi Rajasthan. The company has recently collaborated with Rajasthan Government to establish a new two-wheeler manufacturer plant in Rajasthan. HMSI has acquried around 240,000 square meter of land within the Tapukara Industrial Area, which is approximately 90 km from Delhi and around 40km from the existing two-wheeler plant of the company. The company has claimed that its new production plant in Rajasthan would be commenced by second half of 2011 with annual production capacity of 600,000 units. The company has increased annual capacity of its present plant from the current 1.25mn units to 1.55mn units of two-wheelers. Further more expansion to 1.6mn units already targeted for current calender year. The company is also targeting to invest for new plant around Rs. 5.0 bn. According to the some news reports HMSI's total annual production capacity would be 2.2 million units when the second plant fully comes into effect. Honda carry on to improve its products line-up to meet the various needs of the Indian two-wheeler customers. HMSI's most popular products are; Honda Activa, Honda CB Twister 110cc, Honda Unicorn, Honda Stunner etc. The company has recently launched a new version of Honda Unicorn with 150cc engine capacity, Honda CB Unicron Dazzler in the Indian auto market. On the other hand, Yamaha Motor is going to launch its new premium bike, Yamaha SZ soon in India.
