Honda bikes sales go down in April

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI), India's number fourth largest two wheeler manufacturer reported low sales in the month of April this year. As per company the sales of bikes went down by 4 per cent with sales of 61,515 units compared to 64,175 units same month of previous year. Meanwhile total sales of the company is 1,36,623 units in this month as against 1,36,862 units in the month of April previous year including bikes and Scooters.
After spilt of Hero and Honda, HMSI is trying to get good position in Indian two wheeler market with launching innovative and latest technology loaded value for money bikes and scooters in India. The company includes entry-level Honda CB Twister to Honda CBR 1000RR super bike in it's Indian portfolio.
Meanwhile Honda Motorcycle and Scooter Indian is doing well in scooter segment. And Indian scooter market is dominated by Honda Activa. The company sold 75,108 units in the month of April this and reported 3 per cent growth as against 72,687 units sales during the same month of previous year. While Honda Dio and Honda Aviator are also getting buzz response from Indian customers and having competition with Mahindra Duro, Mahindra Rodo and TVS Wego which are another popular scooters in Indian domestic market.
Now Honda wants to grab the Indian two wheeler market and launching its strategic products. The company has also entered in fastest growing entry-level sports segment and has recently launched the Honda CBR 250R which is an answer to Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Hero Honda Karizma and Bajaj Pulsar 220. On the other hand HMSI seeks good strength in 100cc bike segment and already announced to bring cheapest bikes this year which will be cheaper than TVS Star series and Hero Honda CB Dawn. Meanwhile Honda CBF Stunner is also attracting youth eyeballs.
It is expected to promote Honda bikes in India, the company is to bring some new policies which may capable to push the Honda bikes sales and would provide a good position to the company in Indian two wheeler market.
