Honda has been performing pretty well in the Indian two-wheeler market since its inception in the country. Earlier, the company had promised to bring 15 two-wheelers in 2015, keeping to its promise, the Japanese manufacturer has already brought 14 vehicles and is completing its promise with the launch of Honda CB Hornet 160R. The smallest displacement motorcycle from the Hornet family, 160R will be placed ahead of its 160cc sibling Unicorn. Now, it is officially confirmed that the company is launching the motorcycle on 10th of December 2015 (tomorrow) in Goa.
The images of the motorcycle are already out in the market. As the name suggests, the bike will feature 160cc engine of Unicorn 160R, but with better tuning. Powering of the Unicorn is done by 162.71cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine, which delivers 14.5 bhp of maximum power and the peak torque of 14.61Nm, but Hornet 160R is likely to have more power figures. If rumours are to be believed, with the launch of Hornet, the company might replace its CB Trigger, which is not performing well in the market. Honda Trigger has a 150cc engine of standard Unicorn offering more power and has been offered as a premium option to 150cc Unicorn.

The display of the motorcycle is fully digitalized having a digital tachometer and other readings such as the vehicle speed, trip distance, time and fuel level. It will also get the 5-speed gearbox along with Honda Eco Technology (HET) to improve fuel efficiency and performance. In addition, it has a mono-head lamp, muscular fuel tank, alloy wheels and LED tail lamp. We can expect the bike to come in three variants - one with a single disc, second with dual discs having CBS (Combi-Braking System) and the last with dual discs without CBS. Other features of the motorcycle include, exhaust with silver coloured muffler, split grab rails offering fighter look to it.
Honda CB Hornet 160R was first teased during the ‘Honda Revfest’ and since then it has been creating a buzz in the market. Recently, it was reported that the company is planning sell Hornet 160R online. It will be placed in the competition against Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-FI and the TVS Apache RTR 160. The company has not given any hint about the pricing of the motorcycle, but considering the features and appearance, it should fall within the price range of Rs. 80,000-90,000.
