How does Honda’s Chinese offering fare against its Indian ADV?
Honda launched its smallest ADV offering in India in the form of CB200X. Styling-wise, it takes inspiration from the CB500X albeit based on the Hornet 2.0 on the mechanical front. Interestingly, Honda has another 200cc ADV dubbed as the CBF190X, exclusively for the Chinese market. We’ve put it against the CB200X, visually, and here’s what we found out.
On the design front, the Honda CBF190X gets a comparatively butch look. It gets a distinctive LED headlamp and a small bottom lip. The same is topped by a clear windscreen. The CB200X too gets LED illumination and a smoked flyscreen. It even gets knuckle guard mounted turn indicators. Not to mention, the knuckle guards make the CB200X look more purposeful.

Powering the CBF190X is a 184cc air-cooled motor that makes 16.85PS and 16.3Nm. Meanwhile, the CB200X borrows the 184.4cc, single-cylinder BS6-compliant engine from the Hornet 2.0. It develops 17.26PS and 16 Nm. Both get a 5-speed gearbox.
Feature-wise, both the bikes are pretty bare-bones and get an LCD with basic tell-tale details like speedometer, odometer, gear-position indicator, fuel level
Both the bikes are sprung by a USD fork and a monoshock setup. But, the CB200X gets a premium-looking golden finished fork. It’d be nice to see Honda offer a tad bit more suspension travel to suit the CB200X’s demeanour.
Braking hardware on the Honda CBF190X comprises petal discs at both ends. And, the CB200X gets a 276mm front and a 220mm rear disc. Single-channel ABS is standard on both bikes.
Honda has equipped the CBF190X with 18-inch alloys while the CB200X rolls on smaller 17-inch units. We wish Honda had provided a slightly larger front wheel for better off-road dynamics.
If you thought the CB200’s 167mm ground clearance was low then the Chinese-spec CBF190X gets an even lower ground clearance of 150mm.
Both the bikes get a 12-litre fuel tank capacity.
In China, the CBF190X retails at an equivalent of around Rs 1.90 lakh whereas the CB200X is priced at Rs 1,44,500 (ex-showroom). All in all, both the bikes would be better suited for city commutes and occasional weekend jaunts on the highway.
