The Honda CBR 250RR will be powered by a 250cc twin-cylinder motor and sport aggressive styling.
Honda has released a teaser video of the upcoming CBR 250RR full-faired motorcycle. The bike was shown as a concept two years ago and since then it has generated a lot of curiosity among two-wheeler enthusiasts across the globe. Unlike the Honda CBR 250R which is a sports-tourer and is powered by a single-cylinder motor, the CBR 250RR is a more performance oriented supersports offering and will sport a twin-cylinder heart. While the details in the video are scarce, we can be sure that the upcoming motorcycle will feature an aggressive design language with sharp lines that should make it visually appealing. It also sports conventional single side exhaust muffler that goes well with the overall design.
The riding stance will be sporty given the fact it gets clip-on handle bars and rear-set footpegs which will be useful while pushing the bike around a track. The chassis has been tuned for better handling dynamics. Honda has been very secretive regarding the powerplant details but it is expected that the twin-cylinder will generate around 37-40PS of power and around 23Nm of torque. Power will be transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. It is also likely that the new Honda motorcycle will get goodies like ride-by-wire and switchable riding modes.
To keep cost low, the upcoming Honda motorcycle will be manufactured in Indonesia where its arch rival the Yamaha R3 is also built. Suspension duties are handled by USD front forks and a monoshock unit at the back. Braking will be done by petal disc brakes on both the ends with ABS as an optional extra. We can expect the Honda CBR 250RR to land in India via the CKD route next year and a speculative price of around Rs 3 lakh. The quarter-litre offering will compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3. Watch this space for more updates and news regarding the CBR 250RR.
