Showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, Honda CBR 500R seemed a quite promising product in the middleweight sportbike segment. The Indians were delighted after the launch of its elder sibling, CBR 650F at Honda Revfest and were hoping to see the CBR 500R too on Indian roads in near future. However, the sad news is that this won't be happening now. Yes, you heard that right. YS Guleria, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has revealed that the 500cc sports tourer won’t be making it to the Indian shores. The reason might be that the company thinks only one bike in the midweight segment is suitable for the country that leaves a blank space between the 250cc and 650cc CBRs.
Honda CBR 500R is on official sale even in Pakistan, which is a smaller market in comparison to India and the Indian admirers of Honda will surely be getting disheartened after knowing this. Nevertheless, the country has a much powerful CBR 650F that can fulfill the space of the CBR 500R in every aspect (obviously not the price). But the good news is that Honda is bringing a bunch of exciting products till the end of this year that are expected to put a smile on the face of Indian buyers.
