It is now dearer by a little under Rs 1,000
As if all of last week’s price hikes weren’t enough, Honda has decided to finish off the job by hiking prices of the stylish Dio as well. The scooter was launched starting at Rs 59,990 back in February, before receiving an increase of around Rs 550 to Rs 60,542 in May. Now, the Dio has received an even bigger price hike of Rs 955, meaning that the Standard variant is now priced at Rs 61,497 while the Deluxe version costs Rs 64,847.
If carried out alone, these hikes would’ve made the Dio more expensive than the immensely popular Activa 6G, but Honda has also increased prices of its cash cow, meaning that it continues to be the more expensive of the two. In addition to this, the Japanese brand has also hiked prices for its 125cc scooters: the Activa 125 and Grazia 125. Unfortunately, despite the increments, the scooters themselves get no new features or updates of any kind.
The Dio is powered by the same 109.51cc air-cooled engine as the Activa 6G, and in this guise, it produces 7.76PS and 9Nm. An underbone frame holds everything together, and suspension comprises of a conventional telescopic fork and preload-adjustable monoshock. There is no disc brake available, so the Dio is stopped by 130mm drum brakes at both ends. Honda has equipped the scooter with features like an LED headlight, digital instrumentation, an ACG starter, engine kill switch and side-stand cut-off.
